About Margaret Ansell

Margaret Ansell was awarded her Master of Library and Information Science in 2012 from the Information School at the University of Washington. She is currently the Nursing & Consumer Health Liaison Librarian at the University of Florida Health Science Center Libraries, providing instruction and research collaboration and support to students, staff, and faculty with an interest in nursing, consumer health, patient education, or health communication topics. She also provides support for nurses employed at UF Health Shands Hospital and works with local community organizations to supply consumer health information services to the public. She is Associate Chair of Gainesville faculty, supervising five tenure-track librarians, and currently leads the HSCL Marketing Team, coordinating library promotion and engagement with users. Her research interests include health information competency assessment, health information promotion via social media and creative arts, the professional development of novice researchers, and the process of making professional advocacy accessible and engaging. She is actively involved in professional associations as current Chair of the MLA/AAHSL Joint Legislation Committee and as the current Chair of MLA’s Consumer and Patient Health Information Services caucus. She is a Senior Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals and has attained the Consumer Health Information Specialization Level II credentials.
