About the collection
The purpose of the University of Florida Health Science Center Libraries’ collection is to provide information for the teaching, research and patient care provided by the University of Florida’s Health Science Center programs. The collection also serves as a biomedical information resource for health professionals and citizens of the state of Florida. The Health Science Center Libraries’ collection includes print journals and books, electronic resources including databases and e-journals from Anesthesiology to Zoology, reference material, and audiovisual materials.
The HSC Libraries’ collection includes reference materials, journals, books, audiovisuals and electronic resources. As of June 30, 2014 the Libraries’ collection totaled 348,682 volumes with 322,414 available for immediate access, and 26,268 housed in the remote storage facility. Additionally, we have 143,543 unique monograph volumes in all formats and 14,322 serial titles in all formats (14,307 electronic, 22 Print + electronic, and 3 print), and our users have access to 355 databases, 1,151,826 e-books (with 47,335 specifically health related) and 154,946 electronic journals, which are obtained through campus-wide purchase (51,860), participation in statewide consortium (29,690), and Open Access Directory (73,396). Total expenditures for the collection (including contributions by HSC colleges and departments and binding) in FY13-14 was $2,226,475.
